Bicycle Parts

Colorful monument. The sheer height of this penetrates the sky and the mind. Quite beautiful on Santa Rosa Ave.

It's Time for a Mary Oliver Poem

I thought the earth remembered me,
she took me back so tenderly,
arranging her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds.
I slept as never before, a stone on the river bed,
nothing between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated light as moths
among the branches of the perfect trees.
All night I heard the small kingdoms
breathing around me, the insects,
and the birds who do their work in the darkness.
All night I rose and fell, as if in water,
grappling with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
into something better.

Try a Little Tenderness

"Resolve to be tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving,
and tolerant with the weak and wrong.
Because sometime in your life
you will have been all of these."

Rev Marilyn AKA "Mother Goose"

One day one of Marilyn's cats/kittens was captivated by movement in one of the bushes in her yard. She approached and found hidden there a gosling. She adopted this gosling and raised it. It followed her everywhere. If it was napping and Marilyn moved to the other side of the yard it would wake up and fly directly to where she was. When she would leave her house in her car this goose would fly after her, following the car as far as it could. One year, this grown goose joined a flock of geese fllying overhead, migrating south. A year later on the flock's return migration this goose stopped by Marilyn's yard and brought the whole flock with it. It was to be the last time Marilyn would see him. She was a mother to a gosling that grew into a healthy adult goose. Our Mother Goose! We love you sweet Marilyn. (Relayed to me by Patricia Howard via Marilyn's son Sean Mooney.)
